Four things are used to convert any petrol or diesel vehicle to electric. First motor, second controller, third rotor and fourth battery. When a car is converted to electric, first all the mechanical parts of that petrol-diesel car are removed and then electrical parts are installed in the car.
Is it necessary to take permission?
To convert an old petrol or diesel car into electric, you will first have to take permission from the RTO office of your state. You can convert your vehicle into electric only after getting permission.
Diesel vehicles less than or more than 10 years old can be converted. But vehicles older than 15 years cannot be converted.
How to apply for permission
To convert a petrol-diesel vehicle into electric, you will have to fill and submit Form 22 Part 1 in the RTO. This form includes the vehicle registration number, model of your vehicle, which company the vehicle belongs to, in which month and year the vehicle was manufactured, category of vehicle (two wheeler, three wheeler, four wheeler), current fuel information (petrol or diesel), name of the electric kit manufacturer / importer, name of the kit, kit number, as well as the name and complete address of the center where your vehicle is being converted into electric. You will have to fill all this information in the form and submit it to the RTO.
