Farmer Loan Waiver: Good news for farmer brothers, The state government has increased the loan waiver amount for farmers to Rs 2 lakh. This decision is very relieving for the farmers. Till now only loans up to Rs 50 thousand were waived.

India is an agricultural country and farmers are the backbone of its economy. But many times farmers get burdened with debt. Given this, the government has taken this big decision. This proposal was granted in the cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.

Farmers will get big relief

Earlier the government used to waive loans up to Rs 50 thousand, but now this limit has been increased to Rs 2 lakh. The last date to avail of this scheme has been kept as 31 March 2020. That is, loans before this date will be waived.

An official of the Agriculture Department said that about one lakh farmers will benefit from this decision. In the year 2021-22, the government had announced to waive loans up to Rs 50 thousand. Then loans of more than Rs 1900 crore for more than 4.73 lakh farmers were waived.

In June, the then Chief Minister Hemant Soren had announced to waive loans up to Rs 50 thousand. Now the new Chief Minister Hemant Soren has increased this limit to Rs 2 lakh.

How will the loan be waived

The government will waive this loan through a one-time settlement scheme. Farmers whose loans are more than Rs 50 50,000 will have to make a one-time settlement.

The process has been started for this. But farmers whose loans were already waived up to Rs 50 thousand will now get the benefit of up to Rs 2 lakh. No changes will be made to their list.

The government’s initiative is commendable

The demand for loan waivers for farmers has been made for a long time. The government has taken a positive step in this direction. This will improve the economic condition of the farmers and they will be able to focus more on farming.

However, this is the first step and there are still many challenges. To ensure that farmers get the full benefit of this scheme, the government needs to implement it effectively.

This is a big relief news for the farmers. It is hoped that this will improve the economic condition of the farmers.
