Ujjwala Yojna: The UP government has once again given a big gift to poor families. The beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will be given free LPG cylinders on the festival of Diwali.

This scheme will prove to be a relief step for crores of beneficiaries of Uttar Pradesh.

Gift of free LPG cylinder

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made an important announcement for the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana of the state in November last year.

He had said that the families coming under the Ujjwala Yojana in the state would be given free LPG cylinders twice a year. These two occasions will be the festivals of Holi and Diwali.

For the first time in March 2024, free LPG cylinders were given to the beneficiaries on the occasion of Holi. Now in this sequence, the state government is going to give free LPG cylinders to the beneficiaries at the time of Diwali as well.

This year Diwali is in the first week of November, that is, after the next two and a half months, crores of beneficiaries of the state are going to get the gift of free LPG cylinders once again.

Who will get the benefit

The benefit of this scheme will be given to those beneficiaries who are registered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and are residents of Uttar Pradesh.

Apart from this, the bank account of the beneficiaries must be linked to the Aadhar card. If the account of a beneficiary is not linked to Aadhaar, then they will not get the benefit of this scheme.

At present, there are about 2 crore beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana in Uttar Pradesh. This number shows the success of this scheme and the seriousness of the state government. This step of the Yogi government can prove to be a relief for the poor families of the state.

About Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was started in the year 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The main objective of this scheme was to provide clean fuel to poor families and free them from health problems caused by the smoke of wood stoves.

Under this scheme, more than 9 crore families have been given free LPG connections so far.

Contribution of Central Government

The central government also plays a big role in this scheme. The central government gives a subsidy of Rs 300 on every cylinder, which was Rs 200 earlier.

An additional subsidy of Rs 100 was added to it in October last year. It aims to reduce the cost of LPG cylinders for poor families and provide them with financial assistance.
