Old Pension Scheme: The central government may soon take a big decision regarding the old pension scheme. It is being said that Prime Minister Modi can hold a meeting with the officials of the National Council on Saturday.
Praveen Jargar, Joint Secretary of the Government of India, has written a letter to Council Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra regarding the old pension.
This is the first meeting regarding the old pension under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi. PM Modi was on a foreign tour till Friday.
During this, he visited many countries including Ukraine and Poland. The decision of the old pension scheme is considered important as it is becoming an issue in the upcoming assembly elections.
Government employees are also engaged in this. The demand for old pensions has been going on for a long time. Given this, the government can make important decisions like old pensions.
It is expected that this will be discussed at Prime Minister’s residence 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. Old pensions will be the main issue in this discussion.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had talked about pension reform in the general budget. Keeping this in mind, this meeting is considered very important.
People of the employee union had also opposed the privatization of government departments and related undertakings.
The employee union has demanded that lakhs of posts be vacant in all departments including Railways. A decision should be taken about it soon. It is believed that this can also be discussed in the meeting.
An old pension scheme is already applicable in these states
Congress has raised the issue of the old pension scheme many times. Not only this, many opposition parties including Congress had also included it in their election manifesto.
Old pensions have also been implemented in many Congress-ruled states. The first state to implement it was Rajasthan when Ashok Gehlot was in power there.
As soon as PM Modi returns from abroad, he will hold a meeting with the officials of the National Council, a big decision can be taken regarding the old pension.
Apart from this, the old pension scheme is running in Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Punjab.
