Nabanna Abhijan Lathicharge: Protests against the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Medical College have not stopped yet. People are protesting this incident not only in West Bengal but throughout the country. In Kolkata, students started a Nabanna campaign on Tuesday in the murder case, where the police dispersed it by lathi-charge.
The police also fired tear gas shells to stop the students. Student organizations are demanding Mamata Banerjee’s resignation from the post of CM. Initially, the police attempted to persuade the irate students, but they persisted in their demand. Soon after, a large group of police personnel gathered and began beating the students with sticks. Many students have been badly injured. The students insist on the immediate arrest of those responsible for the rape and murder of the doctor at RG Hospital.

Protesters are demanding resignation from CM Mamata Banerjee.
Ever since the rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata’s RG Medical, many organizations in West Bengal have been targeting the Mamata Banerjee government. On Tuesday, the protesting students marched on foot under the Nabanna Abhiyan and demanded Mamata Banerjee’s resignation as well as the arrest of those responsible.
The protesters claim that this incident occurred in the hospital because of the state government’s negligence. The student organization ‘Chhatra Samaj’ and the ‘Sangrami Jautha Manch’ of state government employees started their march from Santragachhi.
Amid the deployment of a large number of police personnel in the city, the protesters involved in the march warned that no matter what happens, we will go to the Nabanna Secretariat. He further said that we want the resignation of CM Mamata Banerjee. The protesters further said that Mamata Banerjee’s government wants to suppress this act forcibly, but we will not let this happen.

On Tuesday, Shubhendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition in the House of West Bengal, made a significant allegation against the state government. He said that the demonstration in Kolkata was going on peacefully, but the police have wrongly taken brutal action against the students. He also warned that West Bengal will come to a standstill if the state government does not stop the atrocities.
