Railway News: Recently, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath government was in the news for changing the names of many cities and railway stations. Uttar Pradesh has now renamed eight railway stations, honoring the district’s religious identity and notable individuals.
These include the names of Jais Station, Akbarganj Station, Fursatganj Railway Station, Warisganj Halt Station, Nihalgarh Station, Bani Railway Station, Misrauli Station and Kasimpur Halt Station. Local mythological sites and great men have inspired the names of these eight railway stations.

Kasimpur Halt in Amethi district will now be referred to as Jais City. Similarly, Nihalgarh will be known by the name Maharaja Bijli Pasi. Apart from this, Mishrauli will be known as Maa Kalikan Dham, Bani will be known as Swami Paramhans. Ahorwa Bhavani Dham, Wazirganj Halt will be known as Amar Shaheed Bhale Sultan.
Smriti Irani had written a letter
Former Union Minister Smriti Irani had also written a letter to the Railway Minister about changing the names of these stations. Recently on Tuesday, Chief Commercial Manager Hari Mohan has issued an order related to changing the names of the stations. Now eight railway stations will be known and recognized by the new name.
Names were changed earlier also
In 2023, the names of the railway stations in Uttar Pradesh underwent changes. This included Pratapgarh, Antu and Bishnathganj of North Railway Lucknow Division. Pratapgarh was renamed as Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh Junction and Antu was renamed as Maa Chandrika Devi Dham Antu.

At the same time, Bishnathganj was renamed as Shanidev Dham Bishnathganj. Apart from this, the names of Faizabad, Allahabad, Mughalsarai station have also been changed. Veerangana Laxmibai Railway Station is the new name for Jhansi Railway Station.
Let us tell you that in the year 2018, the Yogi government changed the name of Allahabad to Prayagraj. The Yogi government also changed the names of railway stations in addition to the city’s name. Yogi Adityanath first changed the name of Mughalsarai station.
