Honda Shine 125: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) launched the Honda Shine 100 in the Indian market a year ago. Available at just Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi). this affordable bike has acted as a game changer in the commuter segment.

We have been driving this bike for the last few days. How is Honda’s Shine 100 to drive and how different is it from its competitors Let’s find out.

Design and Dimensions

In terms of design. this bike will not attract you much.because the company has developed it as an affordable commuter bike. Its look is completely inspired by the Honda Shine 125.

It has been given angular halogen headlamp. attractive body graphics and five-spoke alloy wheels. Weighing 99 kg, this bike is a better option for daily commuting. It gets a 677 mm long seat. whose height is 786 mm.

Features and Colour Options

New Honda Shine 100 gets a basic analog instrument cluster, with read-outs for the speedometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge and tell-tale lights. The Honda Shine 100 is based on a new diamond frame.

Engine and Performance

The Honda Shine 100 is powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine with a capacity of 98.98cc. This powertrain produces 7.28 bhp at 7500 RPM and a peak torque of 8.05 Nm at 5,000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. It runs on E-20 fuel with the latest OBD-2 norms.

Talking about performance, the Honda Shine 100 offers excellent initial pick-up, which is much better for city riding. This new engine from Honda is quite smooth and refined. Apart from this. the clutch of the vehicle is very light and it is very easy to shift gears in it.

Being a 100cc engine, it demands gear shifting very quickly. You will also feel a slight vibration after this bike reaches a speed of 60 KMPH. Talking about mileage. it easily runs 60 to 65 kilometers in one liter of petrol.
