In a move to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left behind, the Government of India has announced a new survey to identify individuals who are deprived of housing in rural areas.

This comes on the heels of the decision to extend the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) until 2028-29.

Revised Eligibility Criteria

The Ministry of Rural Development has revised the eligibility criteria for PMAY-G to include families living in one or two-room houses with raw walls and raw roofs.

Additionally, homeless families, shelter less individuals, destitute people, manual scavengers, primitive tribal groups, and legally freed bonded laborers will also be eligible for housing.
