Tata Motors’ Curv EV creates a completely new segment in the Indian passenger vehicle market. Where till now only luxury car manufacturers were in the coupe SUV space. However with the launch of Curv EV. Tata Motors is bringing this body style to the mass market segment as well.
The SUV coupe body style has suddenly become a topic of discussion in the Indian passenger vehicle market. While Tata Motors has introduced the Curv EV. Renault has introduced its Basalt Coupe SUV in the country just a few days ago. Interestingly, the Tata Nexon comes with a sloping roof design in its ICE and EV avatar. But the Curve EV has taken it to a new level by adopting an SUV coupe body style.
Color Options
The Tata Curve EV will be available in five color options. Which includes colors like Virtual Sunrise, Pure Gray, Pristine White, Flame and Empowered Oxide.
How is the look and design
The Tata Curve EV very closely follows the design philosophy seen in the homegrown brand’s contemporary electric cars including the Nexon EV and Punch EV. The new coupe SUV gets a sleek LED bar running across the entire width of the front profile.
The front fascia looks sculpted with its overall design and has a strong bumper. These design elements remind us of the Tata Nexon EV. But there are also some special styling elements. Interestingly the Curve EV closely follows the design philosophy of its concept version, which was showcased earlier.
Talking about the rear design of the EV, the first thing that catches the attention is the sleek LED light bar that acts as a taillight. This is a design element that almost all automakers around the world are adopting for their modern cars. The rear bumper also looks thick and gives the SUV a bold look. Interestingly the Tata Curve EV also gets a storage area of 35 liters under the front hood and a boot capacity of 500 liters.
Company claims strength
Meanwhile talking about safety, the Curve EV uses 13 percent advanced high-strength steel. With which Tata claims that this electric vehicle is capable of achieving a 5-star BNCAP safety rating.
Battery power, motor and range
The Curve EV will be offered with two battery options – 45kWh for the Curvv.ev 45 (Curvv.ev 45) and 55kWh for the Curvv.ev 55 (Curvv.ev 55) version. Apart from this, Tata Curve EV will get a 165 bhp electric motor.
The ARAI range of Tata Curve EV with a 55kWh battery pack is 585 km. However Tata claims that the real world range of the electric vehicle will be around 425 km.
