PM Jan Arogya Yojana: Ayushman Bharat or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is a government initiative to provide medical assistance to the marginalized sections.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, this flagship national health protection scheme is funded by the Government of India. The Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS) and the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) benefit both the poor and destitute families in rural areas.
The scheme, which provides coverage to around 50 crore Indians. aims to make secondary and tertiary healthcare completely cashless for the underprivileged sections.
PMJAY e-card holders can avail insurance coverage of a maximum of Rs 5 lakh for each family at any empanelled public or private health centre anywhere within their limits.

Ayushman Bharat Eligibility Criteria
This initiative of the central government provides medical coverage to individuals listed in the Socio-Economic Caste Census-2011 data. However the eligibility criteria are different for people living in rural areas and urban areas. Such as:
Eligibility for rural citizens
Families with no adult/male/earning member in the age group of 16-59 years
Person living in a one-room kutcha house (roof and wall)
The person is eligible for the benefit even in the absence of a healthy adult.
Manual scavenger families
Landless physical labourers and their families
Families with a disabled head.
