The Food and Supply Department of the Delhi Government is investigating those card holders who have not taken ration for about three months. There are currently 19 lakh ration card holders in Delhi, who are being given ration according to 71 lakh people.

The government brought ration cards for poor people. Through which ration is given for free. Although only people below the poverty line can take advantage of this, but many times the card is made by showing fake documents.

The Delhi government has been running this campaign for the last several months in search of such people. Under this, about 40 thousand cards have been canceled so far. Under this, those people are being investigated who have stopped taking ration.

Biometric system reduced rigging

When the number of cardholders taking ration had decreased, this investigation was started in view of that. Actually, biometric systems were installed at the places where ration is given.

In this, the complete details of the people taking ration are fed. After this, there was a decrease in those who steal ration. After this, many cardholders did not come to take ration.

After this, the department went door to door and identified those people, where the department came to know that the address given on the card was not theirs. After this the cards were canceled.

There were also some people in this who had returned to their villages during Corona in 2020-21, after which they did not return.

After this, Delhi Food and Supplies Minister Imran Hussain appealed to the people. He said that those who have ration cards should continue to take their ration from ration centers, so that no one faces inconvenience.
