Ginger-garlic paste (1 tsp)
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
Coriander leaves 1 tbsp
1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
Asafoetida, 1 pinch
Dried red chillies 2
One onion (finely chopped)
One tomato (finely chopped)
2 tbsp. oil
Salt to taste
Garam masala, 1/2 tsp.

Method to make Lauki Bharta

Prepare the Lauki: First of all, wash the Lauki thoroughly and peel it. Now grate the lauki and finely chop the onion and tomato.

Add the tadka: Place a pan on the gas and heat oil in it. Add cumin seeds to the oil when it is hot. When the cumin seeds start crackling, add asafoetida and dried red chillies to it.

Add ginger-garlic paste: After this, add ginger-garlic paste and fry it well, till its aroma starts coming.

Fry onion and tomato: Next, add finely chopped onion and fry it until it turns golden. After this, add chopped tomatoes and cook them until they melt completely.

After cooking the tomatoes, add the turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt to taste. Mix it well.

Cook the bottle gourd: Now, add the grated bottle gourd to the pan and mix it thoroughly. Let the bottle gourd cook with the spices for 5 minutes.

Once the bottle gourd bharta has cooked thoroughly, garnish it with green coriander leaves and serve it hot.
