A tinted moisturizer combines foundation, day cream, sun protection and often even anti-aging in one product. A true beauty all-rounder! No wonder that the mix of care and make-up is so popular. Compared to a conventional foundation, however, a tinted day cream has less coverage. This is because the proportion of colour pigments is lower. This means that pores are less clogged, and the skin can breathe better. The texture of a tinted day cream is gel-like to creamy and is absorbed very quickly. This means that annoying make-up edges or a “mask-like” look are a thing of the past. In contrast to the foundation, tinted day cream also contains nourishing ingredients that moisturize the skin. There are now also products that specifically help against blemishes, pigment spots or wrinkles.
Tinted day creams are available not only in different shades (from light to dark) but also in different designs. In addition to the classic BB cream, there are now also CC creams, as well as DD and EE creams. Pretty confusing! We explain what the individual abbreviations mean and which day cream is best suited for which skin type:
1. BB Cream
The classic among tinted face creams is the BB cream. The abbreviation stands for blemish balm, and blemish means blemish. The name already gives away its function: it conceals redness and blemishes and nourishes the skin at the same time. BB creams used to be used after skin-irritating treatments, such as laser treatment, to soothe the skin and conceal redness at the same time. Women from Asia and the USA discovered the mix of care and make-up and made it a trend.
2. CC Cream
The abbreviation CC Cream stands for Color Correcting, which already makes the biggest difference to BB Cream Clear. It is primarily used to correct the colour of the individual skin tone, in other words, to conceal redness, pigment spots and unevenness. So if you want stronger coverage than with normal tinted day creams, CC Cream is the right choice. It has a higher proportion of color pigments than a BB Cream. It also covers pimples and scars better. Nevertheless, Compared to a foundation, the result is much more natural, and you don’t have the feeling of wearing several layers on your face. In the long term, a CC Cream helps the skin appear evener.
3. DD Cream
And the alphabet of beauty creams continues. The DD Cream ( Disguise & Diminish Cream ) combines the best of its two predecessors and is designed to help improve the complexion in the long term. Moisturizer, foundation and sun protection are integrated into one product – and the anti-aging effect is a completely new feature. When used regularly, the DD Cream is designed to counteract the first signs of wrinkles and plump up the skin.
