Many of us wonder which brush is used for what. What make-up brushes are intended for, what to look out for and what they must be able to do.
1. Apply lipstick with the brush
It sounds complicated, but it creates nicer contours if you apply lipstick with a flat brush. Start with the outer line and then fill it in. Make sure that the bristles are tied tightly, so that the brush is not too soft. Another advantage is that you use less lipstick.
2. Which brush do you use to apply blusher?
Rosy cheeks like after a spring walk? The “Blush Rush” blush brush is made of goat and synthetic hair – this means the powder blush sets faster when applied. For a fresh look, smile with closed lips and let the blush run from your apple cheeks to the back.
3. Find the right eyeshadow brush
High-quality natural goat hair bristles are ideal for picking up powder pigments and spreading them over a large area. Prime, blend, shade – the result is softer than with a sponge.
4. Contours
The two-fibre professional brush “Brush-IQ-Finish-Contour” specializes in optical illusions. Its slanted shape contours a narrower face with just a few strokes. Use the tip to pick up bronze powder or cream blush and apply and blend below the cheekbones towards the corner of the mouth, on the chin line and on the hairline above the temples.
5. Eyeliner
Minimalistic, dramatic or swallowtail – the lines on the lash line should be as precise as possible. The easiest way to do this is with a brush that is bent at the front. This way, your little finger can rest on your cheek as a support. Dip the fine tip of the “Arced Liner Brush No. 21” into cream eyeliner, place it in the inner corner of the eye and quickly move it along the lash line.
6. Apply liquid foundation with the brush
How clever! A Y is in the flat top of the bristles, which serves as a dosage aid. Instead of dipping the brush into the make-up, let three drops run into the funnel-shaped recess and gently spread them over the face in a circular motion. “If you have troubled skin, it’s better to work it in by tapping.
7. Eyebrow brush
It really does make a big difference whether the eyebrows are accentuated or not: the face looks clearer and more expressive. The effort is pleasingly minimal with professional tools such as the double brush “Brow Master Brush”. Use the slanted side to apply the eyebrow powder in lines and fill in any gaps. Only then should you use the round brush to comb the hairs in the direction they grow, advises make-up expert Christian Fritsche.
8. Apply concealer with a brush?
Whether you apply concealer with your finger or a brush is a matter of taste. If you tend to have dark circles under your eyes, a brush is better because it spreads creamy textures more gently—important for the sensitive eye area.
9. Apply powder with a brush
The round, fan-shaped shape and the airy arrangement of the bristles on the powder brush prevent you from grabbing too much powder and spreading it across your face. The finish is particularly natural if you pick up the powder (whether it’s pressed or loose), tap it off a little and then spread it in small circles on the shiny areas
