Chetak 3201 Special Edition: Bajaj’s portfolio currently includes only one Chetak electric scooter. However, its demand and popularity are increasing rapidly. It is also included in the list of top-selling electric scooters in the country.

The company has launched variants with different battery options in this. The company recently launched a new Chetak 3201 Special Edition scooter. It is being sold exclusively on Amazon. Its starting price is Rs 1.29 lakh. Chetak EV competes directly with Ola Electric and TVS iQube.

The Chetak 3201 Special Edition scooter has the same 3.2 kWh battery as the Chetak Premium variant, but its range is 136Km. In comparison, the premium variant gives a range of 126Km. The higher range of the Chetak 3201 Special Edition is because new battery cells have been used in the scooter.

These are more energy-dense. Overall, the new battery cells are being procured from a new supplier. The Chetak 3201 Special Edition with improved battery cells has a more extended range, even though the battery capacity is the same as the premium variant.

The entire range of Bajaj Chetak is expected to get improved battery cells. The company may also change the existing vocabulary. For example, the base variant Chetak 2901 receives the name 2901 from its 2.9 kWh battery pack. ’29’ represents the first two digits of the battery capacity. While ’01’ indicates the first variant to use this new vocabulary. If the same terminology is followed for other variants, the Premium 3201 and Urban may get the name 3202.

It remains to be seen whether the company switching to the new battery cell will cut the prices of the Chetak electric scooter. Globally, EV battery prices are falling continuously, and production is reaching economies of scale.

If the new variant of Chetak has more range and a lower price, it will positively impact sales. Its most affordable variant is Chetak 2901, which has an ex-showroom price of Rs 95,998. The Urban is priced at Rs 1,23,319, and the Premium variant is priced at Rs 1,47,243.
