Before him, the record of not giving a single run in the first over of the debut match is registered in the name of current chief selector Ajit Agarkar and star fast bowler Arshdeep Singh.

Both these bowlers did not give a single run in the first over of their debut match and Mayank Yadav has done the same feat. However, he is the first Indian player to do so in the year 2024.
