The Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra will likely return to power with its allies – BJP and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction). On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), consisting of Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP), is aiming to regain power in the western state.

The ruling JMM-led alliance in Jharkhand is aiming to get a second term, while the BJP-led opposition will try to return to power in the tribal-dominated state. On Monday, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren confirmed that the JMM-led alliance will contest all 81 seats in the assembly elections.

Speaking after the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) central committee meeting, Soren expressed confidence in the party’s election preparations and assured that the alliance would regain state power.

BJP national president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday held a marathon meeting with prominent leaders of the party’s Maharashtra unit and two state election in-charge, Bhupendra Yadav and Ashwini Vaishnav, in New Delhi. The party’s Maharashtra unit has finalised the names of around 100 candidates, including sitting MLAs, to select the CEC.

Bypolls are to be held in ten assembly seats in UP – Katehari (Ambedkar Nagar), Karhal (Mainpuri), Milkipur (Ayodhya), Meerapur (Muzaffarnagar), Ghaziabad, Majhawan (Mirzapur), Sisamau (Kanpur City), Khair (Aligarh), Phulpur (Prayagraj) and Kundarki (Moradabad). Bypolls will be held for Visavadar and Vav assembly seats in Gujarat.
