History has been written in Barabati Stadium, Odisha. Jammu Kashmir batter Abdul Samad has achieved such a feat that no other cricketer has done this record before. Samad hit two centuries in both innings of the match playing between Jammu Kashmir and Odisha.

Abdul Samad, who played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, made history in the Ranji Trophy. Abdul, who is playing for Jammu and Kashmir in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, scored his second century of the match against Odisha on Monday. With this, he became the first player from Jammu and Kashmir to score two centuries in the same Ranji Trophy match.

Abdul Samad scored 127 off 117 balls in the first innings of the match being played at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. In this innings, he hit 9 sixes and 6 fours. Thanks to Samad’s innings, Jammu and Kashmir scored 270 runs in the first innings. However, in reply, Odisha scored 272 runs. After the Jammu and Kashmir team missed the lead in the first innings, Samad batted well in the second innings.

If we look at Samad’s first-class career, he has scored more than 1400 runs in 25 matches with six centuries. Samad’s ability to bat aggressively was recognized by Sunrisers Hyderabad and he was included in their team in 2020. Samad played 50 matches for Hyderabad in five seasons between 2020-2024 and scored more than 550 runs with the help of 36 sixes. Samad credited his early success to former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, who spotted him during trials at the Science College Ground in Jammu in 2018 as a mentor for J&K.
