In the ongoing Test series against New Zealand, the Indian team has trailed 0-1. From Thursday, second Test of the series will be helf in Pune. Meanwhile, batsman KL Rahul, who is constantly seeing ups and downs, has got the full support of head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Many former cricketers on social media were speculating that Sarfaraz Khan, who has scored the first century of his Test career in the Bangalore Test and Shubman Gill, who is also ready to return after recovery from stiff neck, become a competitor for Rahul second test playing XI. In the pre match press conference Gautam Gambhir has made it clear that Rahul has the full support of the team management and he openly indicated that Rahul will not be out of the playing XI.

Now It is clear from Gambhir’s statement that the team management is with Rahul along with captain Rohit Sharma. KL Rahul will get more opportunities now. Talking about his career, Rahul has played 53 Test matches so far. During this period, his average has not even been close to 40. He has scored 2981 runs at an average of 33.87. Rahul’s highest score is 199 runs. This is the only century that he has scored on Indian soil in his Test career. The right-handed batsman scored 199 against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in 2016. After that, Rahul could never touch the 150-run mark.

Gambhir said, “I feel he (KL Rahul) is batting really well, he has had a decent knock in Kanpur, obviously on a difficult wicket and he played according to the plans. I am sure he would be knowing that he wants to score big runs, he has that capability of scoring these big runs that is why he is being backed by the team management.
