Australia cricket legend Brett Lee has said that Mayank Yadav should go on Australia tour (IND vs AUS Border Gavaskar Trophy) if Mohammed Shami not available for selection. Lee has high hopes from this Indian fast bowler on bouncy pitches of Australia.

India are eyeing to qualify for the World Test Championship final for the third consecutive time and the team will visit Australia next month to defend their title in the five-Test match Border-Gavaskar Trophy. There are doubts about the fitness of India veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami.

Lee told ‘Fox Cricket’, “I can tell you that batsmen have no problem in facing 135-140 kmph balls but when you bowl more than 150 kmph, no one wants to face it. Mayank Yadav looks like a complete package. If Mohammed Shami is not fit, then he should at least get a place in the team. I think he will do really well on Australia wickets.’

Shami has not played a match since the World Cup final in November last year and even though he has bowled full strength in the nets recently, India captain Rohit Sharma is against the fast bowler taking Australia without full preparation and fitness. Former Australian fast bowler Lee knows a few things about the discomfort of batsmen while facing stormy bowlers, “One of the best things for me is the opportunity to work in the IPL and watch some of the best young Indian cricketers. Playing his first IPL match recently, Mayank Yadav bowled at a speed of 157 kmph. ’

“In this day and generation, there is strong Indian team that does not want to bow down to anyone,” Lee said. “They know how to win and they know how they can beat Australia. They know how they can beat New Zealand.”
