Rangpur Riders has taken a big decision, they appoints Mickey Arthur as their head coach before the Global Super League, which schedule to begin from November 26.

Who is Mickey Arthur?

Mickey Arthur, currently 57 years old, has wide range of coaching across the globe for several clubs and countries. He has managed national teams like South Africa, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the past. Coached Pakistan to victory in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, beating India by 180 runs in the final. He has a notable run as head coach with South Africa. Under his coaching South Africa national team had memorable matches again England, back-to-back Test and one-day series wins against India and Pakistan. Previously he worked as a coach in Bangladesh as well. Arthur manage d BPL side Dhaka Dynamites side in 2015. Currently he is Derbyshire’s director of cricket.

A statement from BPL side Rangpur Riders

“It is a one-year deal. He will take care of us for these two tournaments this year. He is a great addition to our side. The local players are really excited to be coached by him. We have been in touch with Mickey for the last seven-eight days to build the squad for GSL and BPL. He is very active, always gladly helping us”, Rangpur Riders team director Shanian Taneem said

“He is a very friendly guy. He will be of great benefit for the Bangladeshi cricketers in particular. He has huge experience. He has already taken care of so many international sides like Sri Lanka, South Africa and Pakistan.”
