Reports state that there will not be a spin heavy pitch, but the spinners likely to get enough turn, but the pitch will be favorable for batting on the first day. The fast bowlers got help in Bengaluru and the spinners was ruling in Pune. However, the atmosphere in Mumbai can be slightly different.
According to the report, on Monday, BCCI’s chief pitch curator Ashish Bhowmick along with Elite Panel curator Taposh Chatterjee reviewed the pitch along with curator Ramesh Mamunkar of Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. A reliable source told TOI, “It will be a sporting track. There’s some grass on the pitch right now. On the first day, this wicket is expected to be good for batting, but from the second day, the spinners will start getting turn.”
The last time a Test match was played between the two teams was in December 2021. In that match, India won by 372 runs, but in that match, the spinners got help from the first day. India scored 325 runs in the first innings, while New Zealand scored 62 runs in the first innings. In the second innings, India declared the innings at 276/7. In response, New Zealand’s team was stacked on 167 runs. Ejaz Patel made history by taking 10 wickets in an innings in this match. At the same time, Ashwin took 8 wickets for 42 runs in the match.
