A video of Kolkata Knight Riders ‘boss’ Shahrukh Khan goes viral on social media. In this video, Shah Rukh is seen with KKR player Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Shah Rukh meets Gurbaz and hugs him and is seen speaking something to him in his ear. Since the video came on social media, the discussion has intensified that the KKR team can retain Gurbaj before the mega auction.
All teams have the option to retain 6 players. Shah Rukh Khan and Rahmanullah have met, but no official announcement has been made about whether KKR will retain him or not. Gurbaj was signed by the KKR team for 50 lakhs. This player from Afghanistan can also do stormy batting in the top order along with wicketkeeping. In such a situation, it cannot be ruled out that the franchise can retain Gurbaz.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz one of the cricketers from Afghanistan who has made his name at a very young age. Gurbaz, now only 22, hailing form Kabul, has already shown his talent on the international stage as well as in the Indian Premier League. Gurbaz has played for Gujarat Titans and then for Kolkata Knight Riders. He has a T20I century under his belt and seven 50s for his country. The right-handed top order and wicketkeeper batsman played as a regular player for Kolkata Knight Riders. In 2023, Gurbaz played a total of 11 matches and hit two half centuries for the Purple Brigade. Though his batting average was quite low, only 20.63 against his name. His highest score was 81 against the Gujarat Titans.
Next season, Gurbaz failed to maintain his spot in KKR’s first XI, as Phil Salt was doing his job well. Gurbaz played only three matches in IPL 2024, with an improved average of 31.00.
