IPL 2025: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has become a stage for young bloods to showcase their talents. Through the IPL, many Indian cricketers like Harshit Rana created their own path to the door of the national camp. But a debate is always there: who is the best wicketkeeper-batsman after Mahendra Singh Dhoni?

Wriddhiman Saha was there as a backup option. But he was not able to cement his position in the national. Saha, who showed some exceptional skill behind the wickets, never looked solid with his batting. In modern cricket, every keeper needs to be a decorated batsman. Saha lacks in that section.

Rishabh Pant has become the No. 1 choice for the BCCI selectors. But who has the potential to become the backup choice for Pant? Fan favourite Sanju Samson, near 30-years-old, is there. Pant is now 27. If we put MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant aside, then there’s barely anyone to reply for the eeper and batter roles.

KL Rahul is not a regular option; he can deliver as a keeper when team needed. Ishan Kishan is struggling to justify his talent. KS Bharat did his job as a wickekeeper, not as a batsman. Then who has the potential to become the second wicketkeeper batsman after Rishabh Pant?

Now a days Dhurv Jurel has shown some hope of light. Recently, during the India vs. New Zealand test series, Jurel replaced injured Pant to play the wicketkeeping role. Jurel also needs to work more with his batting. The Rajasthan Royals batsman batted with only an average of 21.71 in IPL 2023 and 24.38 in IPL 2024. While Rishabh Pant has batted with a 40.55 average in IPL 2024. So if Jurel wants to cement his position on the national side, he needs to make more runs.

It will be exciting to see which wicketkeeper batsman can deliver a standout performance in the IPL 2025.
