Rail ticket cancellation: Many times passengers are forced to cancel their tickets due to change of plan or some other reasons. If your ticket is still in the RAC and waiting list after the chart is made and you cancel your ticket 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the train, then Rs 60 cancellation charge will be charged in sleeper class. While the AC class will be cut by Rs 65. The rest of the money will be refunded.

If your ticket is confirmed and the journey is canceled suddenly, then you have to take great care about the ticket cancellation charge. Because, according to the rules of cancellation of railway tickets, special care is taken of timing during cancellation in confirmed tickets. If the ticket is confirmed and if you are unable to cancel the ticket before 4 hours from the scheduled departure time of the train, then there is no refund from the railway.

A cancellation charge of Rs 60 per passenger will have to be paid in the general class (2S) 48 hours before the departure time of the train. Sleeper class will be cut by Rs 120. A charge of Rs 180 will be deducted in AC chair car and third AC. Second AC will be cut by Rs 200, first AC and executive class will be cut by Rs 240. GST will also be charged. There is no GST on any sleeper class ticket, while the railway charges GST on AC class tickets.

In case of confirmed train tickets, if the ticket is cancelled within 48 hours and up to 12 hours before the scheduled departure time, then up to 25% of the total amount will be deducted. If the ticket is canceled between 4 hours and 12 hours before the scheduled departure time of the train, then half of the ticket i.e. 50% will be deducted. If you are unable to cancel the ticket till 4 hours before the scheduled departure time of the train, then there will be no refund after that.
