Both Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya retains by Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2025. Rohit Sharma, who already has retired from the T20I format after winning the ICC T20I World Cup, has decided to stay at Mumbai at this stage of his career. Now it is reported that Hardik Pandya will continue as captain like the previous season.

The Mumbai base team has retained 5 players in which there is no uncapped player. Mumbai Indians has retained Jasprit Bumrah for the highest price i.e. 18 crores, Rs 16.35 crores for both captain Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav. At the same time, Rohit Sharma was retained by this franchise for Rs 16.30 crores. Mumbai released players like Ishan Kishan, Arjun Tendulkar, Piyush Chawla, Dewald Brevis, Tim David for the next season.

Hardik Pandya (16.35 cr), Suryakumar Yadav (16.35 cr), Rohit Sharma (16.30 cr), Jasprit Bumrah (18 cr), Tilak Varma (8 cr).

Hardik will continue to be the captain of the team and he has been retained by paying five lakh rupees more than Rohit. Hardik was included in Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans by a controversial trade before IPL 2024 and handed over the captaincy.

There was a lot of controversy about this and then it’s heard that Rohit Sharma was not happy with this decision. A video of Rohit also went viral, in which he was heard telling KKR’s then assistant coach Abhishek Nayar that he no longer wanted to stay in Mumbai. Not only this, Hardik was also teased by the fans at Mumbai Indians home ground, the Wankhede stadium. Under the captaincy of Hardik, Mumbai lost 10 out of 14 matches last season and able won only four matches. Mumbai Indians finished the IPL 2024 season at the bottom of the points table. Hardik Pandya led MI signed of the season in 10th place of the ten teams league.
