This Year’s IPL Auction has already become more famous and competitive due to various new rules introduced by the BCCI. Most of the franchises can’t pick up their favourite players due to the six-player retaining rule of the Indian Cricket Board. Even Kolkata Knight Riders CEO (KKR CEO) Venky Mysore admitted that the decision to retain six players this time ahead of the mega auction for IPL 2025 was very challenging. As a result, plenty of them entering the auction pool this season. Yesterday ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, all 10 teams announced their retention lists. Amid surprises from other teams, Rajasthan Royals retained 6 players, while Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans each retained 5 players.
These three franchises are already popular for spotting and capturing new talent from both the Indian and international cricket leagues. From Yashasvi Jaiswal to T Natarajan, and Umran Malik to Riyan Parag, all these franchises have played a significant role in nurturing these talents. Interestingly, The Rajasthan Royals have retained Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, and Sandeep Sharma. They spent a total of ₹79 crore on these players, leaving ₹41 crore in their auction purse for the mega auction. Let’s take a look at the players who are leaving for the auction:

The 2022 IPL champions, Gujarat Titans, have retained Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan spending with a total of ₹51 crore. They now have ₹69 crore available for the auction.
