India Test Cricket Record: The Indian team has suffered a crushing defeat (IND 0-3 NZ) in the three-match Test series against New Zealand (IND vs AUS). In the third match, Rohit Sharma and Co. had a chance to win but the Indian batsmen once again disappointed like the previous two test matches in the series, and the team could score only 121 runs while chasing the target of 147 runs. This is the first time where team has been whitewashed in a three-match series on their soil.

This is not the first time

Earlier, the Indian team had to face 0-2 defeat in a two-match series against the South Africa in 2000 on their soil. This is the fourth time that the Indian team has not been able to chase down a target of less than 200 runs in a Test match.

Against West Indies, 1997

The Indian team failed to achieve the target of 120 runs against the West Indies for the first time in 1997. In 2018, the Indian team could score 194 runs against England at Edgbaston. At the same time, after 6 years, chasing 147 runs against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium, the Indian team could score only 121 runs.

First time in history

India has a clean sweep for the first time in a series of three or more Test matches on home ground. After England (4), Australia (3) and West Indies (once), New Zealand has become the fourth team to clean sweep against India in the 3+ Test series.
