Right now, the Aadhaar Card is a very important document. Aadhaar card is necessary for opening a bank account and government schemes. Apart from this, you can also use it as a photo ID and address proof. According to UIDAI, the Aadhaar card should be updated every 10 years. Aadhaar Card Rules

The government has extended the date for updating Aadhaar card details online for free till 14 December 2024. If you also want to update any details in your Aadhaar card, then you should be aware of the rules issued by UIDAI before updating the details. In an Aadhaar card, you can change your name, address, mobile number, and birth date. However, there are different rules for updating different details.

How often can details be changed?

You can change the date of birth in your Aadhaar card only once. Apart from this, you can make maximum changes in the name only twice. However, UIDAI has not put any limit on changing mobile number and address. You can change the address and mobile number in your Aadhaar card as many times as you want. However, some charges are charged by UIDAI for this. Currently, this facility is free until 14 December 2024.

Supporting documents will have to be given

To change any detail in the Aadhaar card, you have to upload the supporting documents related to it. There will be no change in your Aadhaar card details without verification of supporting documents. For example, if you want to update the date of birth in your Aadhaar card, then you have to upload a birth certificate or high school mark sheet as a supporting document with it.

As per UIDAI, the request to update details in the Aadhaar card is approved within 30 days. However, it may take up to 90 days to update some details. If there is any problem in updating your details, then you can contact the helpline number 1947 of UIDAI, or you can go to the nearest Aadhaar center and request to change the details again.
