Chief Minister Nitish Kumar called a special meeting of ministers after the by-election voting. In this, 38 important agendas were approved under the chairmanship of CM Nitish Kumar. In the meeting, the proposal to increase the dearness allowance of 10 lakh employees of the Bihar government was approved.
DA hikes up to 3%
That is, now the dearness allowance of government employees and pensioners has increased by 3%. The benefit will be available from July 1, 2024, and the employees will also get three-month arrears. After this increase, the total DA will be 53%. At present, the benefit of a 50% dearness allowance is being given.
It is being told that the benefit of 3% DA will be given to the employees of the seventh pay scale. There are about six lakh employees in the seventh pay scale in the state. Even in government schools, the number of teachers is around five lakh, while the number of pensioners is four lakh. The government increases the dearness allowance twice a year. It is affected from January 1 and July 1.
DA hikes of Central Govt employees
In fact, on October 16, PM Modi announced 3% DA of central government employees. After this, it was believed that CM Nitish Kumar would announce the benefit of DA to the state employees before Diwali and Chhath Puja. The cabinet met on October 22, but the proposal was not approved. National Forensic Science University has been nominated as a consultant for setting up and operationalizing each unit of the Cyber Forensic Laboratory at Rajgir.
The state government also approved this proposal. At the same time, payment of a short-term loan of Rs 28 crore, 25 lakh, and 57,000 has been approved from the Bihar Contingency Fund to the employees (deceased employees) of Bihar Spun Silk Mill and Bihar Scooter Limited. Approval has been given to implement the Strengthening and Management of Rural Roads Programme under the Department of Rural Affairs.
