Pension Update: Now filling out Form 6 is now mandatory, know what it is

Big news for pensioners. Now all retired employees from central government offices will now have to fill out pension form 6-A to get a pension. This form can be filled out online only through BHAVISHYA or the e-HRMS 2.0 portal. This new rule related to the pension process has come into effect in the country from November 6, 2024.

Applications submitted on paper will no longer be accepted from employees retiring from central government jobs. This information has been given in a notification issued by the Pension and Pensioners Welfare Department under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Government of India. Earlier, the application forms for pension could be filled out on paper, but now the employees retiring from central government jobs will have to fill out the online pension form for pension. This new rule is part of a major step to digitize government processes.

It is available to retiring central government employees from November 16. For this, a notification issued on November 4, 2024 was issued. These online portals are created to make the pension process simpler and more effective. Under this change, the concerned officers are to be given training to run the pension process smoothly.

 

These training sessions will help the office heads and nodal officers understand how to use the new system. The training program will be shared soon. All government ministries and departments have been instructed to ensure that this new rule reaches all the employees and everyone follows the new procedure for pension claims.

 

What is Pension Form 6-A?

 

In fact, for the convenience of retiring employees, simplified pension form 6A has been prepared. It has been prepared by combining Forms 6, 8, 4, 3, A, Format 1, Form 9, FMA, and the Zero Option Form. For this, changes have been made in rules 53, 57, 58, 59, and 60 of the CCS Pension Rules, 2021. The amendment has been notified after consultations with all stakeholders, such as the Department of Expenditure, the Department of Law and Justice, the Controller General of Accounts, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, and the Department of Personnel and Training.

 

Preparing to place a pension order on retirement day

 

The pension form has been integrated on the 6A ‘Bhavishya’ or e-HRMS portal for retiring central government employees. The Bhavishya portal is an initiative of the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare. Under this, efforts are being made that the retiring government employees get all the outstanding payments and pension payment orders on the day of retirement itself.
