8th pay commission in next month! How much salary will increase? Know the details

A big news is coming for central government employees. The demand for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission is gaining momentum. Employee organizations argue that at present the country’s revenue collection is good and the financial situation is also better, so this is the appropriate time to form the commission. So far, more than two rounds of talks have been held regarding this, after which it is believed that a decision can be taken soon in the direction of the government.

8th Pay Commission

Shiv Gopal Mishra, secretary of the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM), has also recently demanded to increase the fitment factor. They say that this step is very important given inflation. There has already been a delay in the formation of the eighth pay scale. The Commission, which comes every 10 years, is constituted much before the scheduled time of implementation. According to sources, the new commission may be formed in December.

The Seventh Pay Commission, which was implemented from the year 2016, was constituted in February 2014 by the then Manmohan Singh government, whose recommendations were implemented from January 2016. In this sense, January 2026 will complete 10 years since the implementation of the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission. In such a situation, there is a lot of delay in the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission. Therefore, there is a constant demand from the government that it should not delay the formation of the commission.

There will be a significant increase in basic salary

Sources say that before the general budget of the financial year 2024-25, the government can take a decision regarding the formation of the commission. If the fitment factor is adopted for the pay scale increase in the Eighth Pay Commission on the lines of the Seventh Pay Commission, then it will increase the basic salary significantly.

Demand raised since July

There is a constant demand for the formation of a new pay commission. The NC-JCM met the then Cabinet Secretary in July. After that, in August 2024, they again raised their demands. Now once again, the demand for the formation of a pay commission is being raised.

On the other hand, experts also say that the central government can also find another formula for increasing the pay scale by not constituting the Pay Commission, in which other aspects, including inflation, will also be taken care of. There may also be a decision to increase the minimum wage, the final decision on which is likely to be taken within the next few months.
