UIDAI had set a fixed date for updating Aadhaar cards. Users were required to update their documents online. As part of this, UIDAI offered a gift to users, allowing them to update their Aadhaar by uploading documents online without paying any fee. The original deadline for this was 14 September 2024. However, UIDAI has now extended the deadline. UIDAI provided this information on X (formerly Twitter).
UIDAI informed users that it has extended the free online document upload facility until 23rd December 2024. To avail of this service, users must visit the ‘MyAadhaar’ portal. UIDAI has urged people to keep their documents updated. If you want to update your Aadhaar card, you need to visit the official website. However, during this process, your mobile number should be linked to your Aadhaar number.

How to update documents-
- You have to go to the official website of UIDAI.
- You have to go to the Update Aadhaar option first.
- You have to open the window by entering Aadhaar number and OTP here.
- The option of document update will appear in the new window and here you have to click on Verify.
- Upload the scan of your identity card and address proof in the drop-down menu.
- Submit will appear, on which you have to click.
- Finally, your request number will be generated and Aadhaar will be completely updated in a few days.
How to Check Aadhaar Update History:
- Ensure Mobile is Linked: Make sure your mobile number is updated with Aadhaar.
- Visit UIDAI Website: Go to uidai.gov.in.
- Select ‘Check Aadhaar Update History’: Navigate to ‘Aadhaar Services’ and click on ‘Check Aadhaar Update History.’
- Enter Aadhaar Number: Input your 12-digit Aadhaar number.
- Verify OTP: Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- View History: Check your Aadhaar update history.
