Big news for ration card holders. Even today, there are many people in India who are unable to eat even two meals a day. The Government of India provides rations to such people at a very low rate under the National Food Security Act. The government issues ration cards to the people for this. With the help of which people are able to take advantage of the ration facility at a low cost. The Food Department has made changes in the things found on the ration card. So this big change will happen from 1 January 2025.
Rules changed for ration card holders
Under the National Food Security Act, i.e., the National Food Security Act, changes have been made regarding the ration available at a lower price. The amount of ration that was available earlier has now been changed. Earlier, 3 kg of rice and 2 kg of wheat were available in one unit. At the same time, it has been reduced to 2 kg of wheat and two and a half kg of rice; that is, half a kg of rice has been reduced in it.
At the same time, half a kg of wheat has been increased, although the unit that used to get a 5 kg ration earlier is only 5 kg. Antyodaya ration card holders get a 35 kg ration, which includes 14 kg of wheat and 21 kg of rice. Changes have also been made in this; now 18 kg of rice and 17 kg of wheat will be given in the Antyodaya card. However, the quantity of ration is the same. But wheat has been increased by reducing rice. These rules have come into effect from 1 November.
E-KYC required before January 1
The Food Department has issued information to all ration card holders to get KYC done. It is mandatory for all ration card holders to get e-KYC compulsorily. The ration card holders who do not get e-KYC done, their ration cards will be canceled. The government had earlier given a deadline of October 1 for this, which was later extended to November 1. So now this deadline is till December 1, i.e., all ration card holders will have to get the ration card KYC done before January 1, 2025. Otherwise, they will stop getting free rations and ration facilities at low cost.
