The Government of India is implementing several beneficial schemes to provide financial support to women across the country. One such welfare scheme is the Pradhan Mantri Matriva Vandana Yojana. Under this scheme, any married woman is eligible to receive benefits. The government provides financial assistance of Rs 6,000 to pregnant women as part of the initiative. Here is detailed information about this scheme.

What is the objective of the scheme?

Often due to lack of proper care of pregnant women, children remain malnourished and various diseases start surrounding them. The government has started this scheme to protect the health of pregnant women and newborns from malnutrition.

Who can avail of the benefits of the scheme?

The Government of India launched this scheme on January 1, 2017. To be eligible for the PM Matritva Vandana Yojana, pregnant women must be at least 19 years old. Women seeking benefits under this scheme need to apply offline.

Under the PM Matritva Vandana Yojana, the government transfers a total of Rs 6,000 to pregnant women in three instalments. In the first phase, pregnant women receive Rs 1,000, followed by Rs 2,000 each in the second and third phases. The final instalment of Rs 1,000 is provided to the woman by the hospital.
