The electric version of the country’s best-selling scooter, Honda Activa, was launched in India on Wednesday. Information about many of its features, such as its range and swappable battery, was revealed before the launch. With the launch, the company announced that booking will start on January 1, 2025. Honda 2-Wheelers India’s new electric Activa scooter is a feature-packed electric scooter. The company is going to launch it in two variants. Its delivery will start from February 1, 2025. At the same time, it will first be available in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. After that, the company will launch it in other cities because it is also going to develop battery-swapping stations for these scooters.
Electric Activa will come in two variants
The company is bringing the Honda Activa EV in Standard and Road sync Duo variants. The standard variant will weigh 118 kg, and the RoadSync Duo variant will weigh 119 kg. These will have different displays and features.
Like in the standard variant, you will get a 5-inch TFT screen. It will have limited Bluetooth connectivity and functions. The Road Sync Duo variant will have a 7-inch dashboard, which will give you the facility of turn-by-turn navigation, and notification alerts.
Will get a range of 102 km
With a glimpse of the Honda Activa EV, it is clear that it will get 1.5 kWh dual-swappable batteries. Which will definitely provide the total range of the 102 km on a full single charge. These batteries can be changed at Honda’s Power Pack Exchanger battery swapping stations.
Currently, the company has installed 83 such stations in Bangalore. By 2026, there will be about 250 such stations in Bangalore, which will give you the option to change the battery in every 5 km radius. The company will start this work in Delhi and Mumbai.
The scooter will be available without a battery too.
Customers will be able to buy this scooter without a battery and can rent the battery under the Battery As A Service model. However, the company can release its big plan later. These electric scooters will be sold from Honda’s existing store, but soon the company will also open a separate concept store just for electric scooters.
Special features made for India
Although many features have been taken from its European version CUV e in this Honda scooter, considering its Indian experience, Honda has added many special features. Its body design is also similar to the petrol Honda Activa also. At the same time, the company has given a ground clearance of 171 mm in it. It will have 12-inch wheels. There is an option for a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
However, due to the swappable battery, the boot space is much less in it. At the same time, the company has also given a small boot space in the front, which also has a USB port for mobile charging. It is like the top variant of the petrol Activa.
Honda Activa EV color and price
The Honda Activa electric scooter will be available in a total of 5 colors. Two variants of it will be of blue color. At the same time, the option of white, gray, and black color will also be available. The company has not yet disclosed its price. However, experts believe that its price will be in the range of TVS iQube and Ather Rizta.
