Everyone is talking about now 8th Pay Commission. Especially lakhs of central govt workers is eagerly waiting for formation of this new pay commission. But now central govt said big thing regarding this. The central government has given a big blow to its 48 lakh employees and about 65 lakh pensioners. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary on Tuesday made it clear in the Rajya Sabha that there is no proposal under consideration of the government to set up the 8th Pay Commission.
8th Pay Commission
At present, the rate of DA/DR has reached 53 per cent. The rule is that as soon as the rate of DA crosses fifty percent, there is a change in the pay scale and allowances of the employees. The employees are now awaiting the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission. Various central government employees unions have time and again demanded the government to set up the Eighth Pay Commission.
Earlier this year, SB Yadav, general secretary of the Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers, had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to set up the Eighth Pay Commission without any delay in the current circumstances. The government remained silent on this.
Rajya Sabha MPs Javed Ali Khan and Ramji Lal Suman had asked questions about the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission in the Parliament session. The MPs wanted to know whether the government was active in setting up the Eighth Pay Commission during the 2025 Budget. Is the financial condition of the government not allowing the increase in the pay scale of the employees? In response to the question, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said, “There is no such proposal under consideration of the government.”
Earlier, the Indian Railway Technical Supervisors Association (IRTSA) had also urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman that the central government should constitute the Eighth Pay Commission without any delay. Last year, during the Parliament session, questions were asked about the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission. Even then, the government had bluntly replied that there is no proposal to set up the Eighth Pay Commission. The Government is not considering it.
The central government has received many suggestions from the employees regarding the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission in the country. The Indian Railway Technical Supervisors Association (IRTSA) had urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to set up the 8th Pay Commission without any delay, citing the recommendations made by the previous pay commissions.
