Recently, on Wednesday, the Gujarat government delivered good news to its employees and pensioners. The state government announced a 3 per cent hike in the DA. Decision Effective from July 1, 2024

According to reports, the decision to increase the dearness allowance (DA) will be applicable retrospectively from July 1, 2024. The Finance Department has issued a proposal under the Gujarat State Service (Pay Revision) Rules, 2016, to increase DA from 50 per cent to 53 per cent of the basic pay. This decision will benefit more than nine lakh employees and pensioners.

Arrears Distribution Timeline

The arrears from July to November 2024 will be disbursed in January 2025, along with the December salary and pension. The hike will benefit state government employees, panchayat employees, teaching and non-teaching staff in secondary and higher secondary schools, and employees of aided non-government schools who fall under the Seventh Pay Commission.

Other Employees Who Will Benefit

The government has also stated that, with appropriate modifications, this benefit will be extended to primary teachers and employees working on deputation or transfer in panchayats, who have been approved for salary revision under the commission.
