PM Poshan Yojana Update: An important step has been taken for children studying in government schools in Haryana. The government has revised the prices of food items provided to children under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Yojana. The main objective of this revision is to ensure that children receive better and higher-quality food. This initiative will support children’s overall well-being while promoting educational achievements.
The government has increased the cost of food items by about 12 per cent. This amendment will be applicable, especially for students studying in primary classes. Director General Basic Education Haryana has issued instructions to all the District Basic Education Officers in this regard.
Food Costs Shared Between Centre and State Government
The cost of food will be shared between the Centre and the state government in a 60:40 ratio. For Bal Vatika and primary class students, the cost has now been fixed at Rs 6.19 per child per day, while for upper primary class students, it has been set at Rs 9.29.
Rohtak District Elementary Education Officer, Diljeet Singh, mentioned that the quality of food provided to primary class students will improve. Grains like wheat and millet are supplied by the government, while the budget for other materials like vegetables, spices, and oil has been increased.
New Rates Effective From December 1, 2024
According to the new rates applicable from December 1, 2024, for the year 2024-25, for Bal Vatika and primary class students, Rs 3.71 will be provided by the Centre, and Rs 2.48 by the State Government, out of the total Rs 6.19. Similarly, for upper primary class students, the Centre will contribute Rs 5.57 and the State Government will provide Rs 3.72, out of the Rs 9.29 total cost.
