Finally the LIC’s Bima Sakhi Scheme is launched. Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced this program in Panipat, Haryana. Prior to the scheme’s launch, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman noted that LIC has been dedicated to the financial security of women over the past decade. LIC is also providing jobs for women. Over 50 percent of LIC offices are located in rural regions. Insurance initiatives are taking place in over three thousand eight hundred locations nationwide. In 2017, LIC had 6 lakh women agents, and currently, their count has risen to 7.4 lakh. Bima Sakhi Yojana plays a crucial role as women’s involvement in LIC continues to rise.
2 lakh insurance sakhis will be prepared in 3 years
The Finance Minister announced that there is a scheme to train 2 lakh Bima Sakhis nationwide within 3 years. In the meantime, they will need to complete 3 years of training. The government will carry out this training. Following the training, women may also qualify as development officers by passing an exam. Women aged 18 to 70 years can benefit from this program.
You will receive payment each month while in training
The Finance Minister announced that Bima Sakhi trainees from all over the country will receive a stipend while undergoing training. In the initial year, the woman will receive Rs 7,000 each month. During the second year, Rs 6,000 will be provided each month, and in the third year, Rs 5,000 will be provided monthly. In this manner, women will make over Rs 2 lakh within 3 years. Besides this, they can also boost their earnings by way of commission.
Requirements for application
The Bima Sakhi scheme is exclusive to women applicants. To be eligible, they need to possess a matriculation/high school/10th grade completion certificate. Women aged 18 to 70 years can benefit from the program. Qualified women will receive three years of training from the government. Upon completion of training, women will be employed as insurance agents.
