Ayushman Vay Vandana Card: A new record has been set as 25 lakh senior citizens aged 70 and above registered for the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in only 42 days. Initiated on 29 October this year, this program has been positively accepted by the public. By utilizing this card, 22 thousand elderly individuals have gained access to free medical care valued at Rs 40 crore to date. As stated by the Health Ministry, this complimentary insurance program provided under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is aimed at elderly individuals from all social and economic backgrounds.

To date, 22 thousand seniors over the age of 70 have undergone treatment for various significant and minor ailments, such as coronary angioplasty, hip fracture/replacement, gall bladder removal, cataract surgery, stroke, and hemodialysis. This encompasses usual medications along with typical surgical procedures. This card allows for approximately two thousand medical procedures to be performed in 27 specialized hospitals nationwide.

In addition to addressing all current illnesses, treatment for bone, heart, and cancer conditions is also included from day one. This plan will assist 4.5 crore households and six crore individuals over the age of 70 years.

How to enroll name in this scheme?

As per the ministry, senior citizens currently enrolled in different government programs such as CGHS, ECHS, and Ayushman Central Armed Police Force will need to decide between their current scheme and the AB-PMJAY scheme. The panel of the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card Scheme includes a total of 29,870 hospitals, with 13,173 of them being private hospitals.
