Big news for Aadhaar Card holder’s. The Assam government has taken a big decision in an attempt to link the Aadhaar card with the National Register of Citizens (NRC). After this decision, people in Assam will have to fulfill one of the conditions of the government in getting the Aadhaar card. Those who have not applied for NRC in Assam will no longer get Aadhaar cards. Those who do not apply will be rejected. This decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting. This information has been given by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma himself.

In the last two months, the Assam Police, Tripura Police and BSF (Border Security Force) have apprehended a large number of infiltrators. That is why infiltration from Bangladesh is a matter of concern for us. We need to strengthen our system, and that is why we have decided to make the Aadhaar card system stricter.

Himanta Biswa Sharma said after the cabinet meeting that now the General Administration Department of the state government will be the main responsibility for the verification process of Aadhaar card applicants. An additional district commissioner will be appointed in each district for this purpose.

How to get Aadhaar now?

After the initial application, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will send it to the state government for verification, the CM said. The local circle officer (CO) will first check whether the applicant or his parents or family has applied for inclusion in the NRC, if no application for NRC has been made on behalf of the applicant, then the request for Aadhaar will be rejected immediately. After this, the report will be submitted to the Center.

If it is found that an application for NRC was made, the CO will go for verification. The Aadhaar will be approved after the officer is fully convinced.

The rule will not apply to them

The Chief Minister said that this new directive will not apply to those central employees who are working in other states. Those who have not applied for NRC. CM said, “In this way, we will further tighten the process of issuing Aadhaar cards so that no suspicious person can obtain this identity card.”
