The central government is running many schemes to provide social security. More than 21 crore countrymen are getting the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana i.e. PMJJBY. The scheme was launched in May 2015. This is a term life insurance plan. As per a post by the Finance Ministry on the social media platform X, the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana offers an insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh to over 21 crore individuals. It ensures financial security for families during challenging times. The post also mentioned that by October 20, over 21.67 crore registrations have been completed under this scheme, and claims totaling Rs 17,211.50 crore, amounting to 8,60,575, have been submitted.
Insurance coverage of 2 lakh with an annual premium of Rs 436.
Individuals aged 18 to 50 years can sign up for this program. Under this, insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh is provided in the event of death for any cause. To do this, an annual payment of Rs 436 is required.
48 crore individuals enrolled in PMSBY
The Finance Ministry announced that nearly 48 crore individuals have registered under the PMSBY program, offering accident insurance protection of Rs 2 lakh. As per official statistics, 47.59 crore individuals have signed up for PMSBY by November 20.
Over 53.13 crore bank accounts established through PMJDY.
The ministry stated that over 53.13 crore bank accounts have been established under PMJDY. The ministry also stated that approximately 55.6 percent (29.56 crore) of Jan Dhan account holders are female, while 66.6 percent (35.37 crore) of Jan Dhan accounts are located in rural and semi-urban regions.
