The Government of India has launched Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) 2.0 to provide housing for economically weaker sections and middle-class families. The Union Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the scheme on August 9, 2024, to support economically weaker sections (EWS) and middle-class families in urban areas. Under the PMAY 2.0 scheme, the government plans to build 1 lakh new houses, with each beneficiary family receiving a financial subsidy of ₹2.30 lakh.
Online facility available
According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, under PMAY, 1.18 lakh houses were sanctioned in the previous phase, out of which more than 8.55 lakh houses have been completed and handed over to beneficiaries. The online application process has started for 1 lakh new families under PMAY-U 2.0. Eligible applicants can now apply online.

- Enter your Aadhaar details for Aadhaar verification.
- Fill out the form with your address, proof of income, and other required information.
- Submit the form and wait briefly to confirm your application status.
- After applying, regularly check the official PMAY website for updates on your application status.

Benefits of the Scheme
- Interest Subsidy: Up to 6.5% interest subsidy is available on home loans under this scheme.
- Financial Assistance: Financial assistance ranging from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh is provided for the construction of houses under the EWS and LIG categories.
