Sarson ka Saag: The mouth starts watering as soon as you hear the name of Sarson ka Saag. Sarson ka Saag is a traditional Punjabi vegetable which is made with mustard leaves and spinach. Sarson ka Saag recipe is popular in North India and it is served with Makki ki Roti.
To make this Sarson ka Saag, we have used half spinach and half mustard. If you want, you can also use only mustard leaves. Sarson ka Saag is mostly made in winters. Very fresh and good spinach is easily available in winters. There are so many types of properties in mustard greens. It is a storehouse of many types of nutrients. Ingredients for making mustard greens:
1 kg fresh mustard leaves
500 grams spinach leaves
50 grams gram flour
15 to 20 garlic cloves
2 inch piece of ginger
Half teaspoon turmeric
Two large onions
Salt according to taste
Two to three whole red chillies
Three tablespoons ghee
Method of making mustard greens:
First of all, wash the greens well and chop them finely. In a pressure cooker, let the mustard greens and spinach greens cook for three to four whistles on medium flame. When the whistle blows, mash the greens well with the help of a masher and make them fine.
Put three tablespoons of ghee in a pan. Add one teaspoon cumin seeds, finely chopped garlic-ginger and onion and fry well. When the onion is fried well, add the mashed greens to it and fry well on high flame for 3 to 4 minutes.
Your very easy and simple mustard greens are ready! Finally, add a spoonful of butter to the mustard greens and serve it with maize roti or tandoori roti and enjoy it.
