Good news for state government employees. If you are also a govt employee then today’s article is for you. The Jharkhand government has given a gift to the government employees of the state on Christmas Eve. In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday evening, a decision was made to increase the dearness allowance for government employees by three percent. This adjustment means that employees will now receive a dearness allowance of 53 percent based on the revised pay scale, effective from January 1, 2016.

The increase in dearness allowance follows a similar move by the central government, which recently raised the allowance for its employees. Accordingly, the Jharkhand government has approved the enhanced dearness allowance to take effect from July 1, 2024. This increase will also benefit retired state government employees.

Currently, there are 5,33,737 sanctioned positions across various state government departments, with 1,83,016 of these positions filled. The state government allocates approximately Rs 16,000 crore annually for the salaries and allowances of employees in regular positions.

Additionally, the Cabinet granted administrative approval for the construction of Vinoba Bhave University in Hazaribagh, with an estimated cost of Rs 99.56 crore, as part of the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-Usha) initiative. The Cabinet also approved the proposal to present the report from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India regarding the Management of Public Health Infrastructure and Health Services in Jharkhand during the upcoming session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.
