In the new year, automakers have now started increasing the prices of their cars. Citroen India’s name has now been added to this list. The company has increased the price of its Basalt Coupe SUV. According to the report, the company has increased its price by up to Rs 28,000.

The company launched this Coupe SUV in August 2024. Let us tell you that it is also the cheapest coupe SUV in the country. Earlier its ex-showroom prices ranged from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 13.62 lakh. Which has now increased to Rs 8.25 lakh to Rs 14 lakh.

Citroen Basalt’s 1.2 turbo-petrol MT Plus and 1.2 turbo-petrol AT Plus variants have been increased by Rs 28,000. Whereas, the price of its entry-level 1.2 petrol MT You variant has increased by Rs 26,000. At the same time, the price of 1.2 Turbo-Petrol MT Max and 1.2 Turbo-Petrol MT Max Dual-Tone variants has been increased by Rs 21,000.

The price of its 1.2 Turbo-Petrol AT Max and 1.2 Turbo-Petrol AT Max Dual-Tone variants has increased by Rs 17,000. The special thing is that there is no change in the price of 1.2 Petrol MT Plus, its price is still Rs 9.99 lakh.

Features and Specifications of Citroen Basalt

The front end of the Basalt is very similar to the Citroen C3 Aircross, with which it shares its underpinnings. It has similar styled DRLs, headlamp cluster, and grille and the placement of the air intake at the front is also the same. The design of the Basalt is clear from the side, as it has a coupe roofline, which runs down from the B-pillar to a high deck lid with an inbuilt spoiler lip. It has 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Interior

Talking about its interior, its layout is similar to the C3 Aircross, with elements such as its dashboard design and 10.25-inch central touchscreen. Unlike the Aircross, it gets a 7.0-inch fully digital instrument display. It has adjustable under-thigh support for the rear seats. The Basalt also has a 15-watt wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and connected car technology.

Powertrain

Talking about its powertrain, it has two petrol engine options. The first is a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter petrol engine, which gives 81 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. It is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Basalt also gets the option of a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which comes with 108 bhp and 195 Nm. It comes with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

Colour options

Talking about the color option, it will get 5 single-tone options, which include Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Garnet Red, and Cosmo Blue. The white and red colour roof will also be available in these. All its variants and their prices will be announced in the coming days. In India, it will compete with models like the Tata Curve as well as the Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta.
