TATA Nexon EV stands out as a prominent model within Tata Motors’ electric vehicle lineup. The company has enhanced this model by incorporating a larger battery pack, increased power, and additional features, now designated as the Nexon EV 45.
Real world range
Recent insights from Autocarindia have revealed its real-world range. For those considering the purchase of the Nexon EV, it is essential to understand how its range compares to the Nexon EV 40.5kWh variant. As indicated by its name, the Nexon EV 45 is equipped with a 45kWh battery pack, an upgrade from the previous 40.5kWh version.
Tata Motors claims that the new battery pack boasts a 15% increase in energy density, allowing it to occupy the same space as the 40.5kWh unit while being slightly heavier. Consequently, it has received an ARAI-certified range of 489km, which is an improvement of 24km over the 40.5kWh model.
According to Tata, the real-world range under the C75 cycle for the Nexon EV 45 is estimated to be between 350 to 370km. This C75 cycle is believed to closely reflect actual driving conditions, achieving an average city efficiency of 7.9km/kWh and an average highway efficiency of 7.67km/kWh, resulting in a total range of 350km on a full charge. In contrast, the 40.5kWh version provided a range of 273km.
Eco mode
Testing was conducted in eco mode, where torque was limited to approximately 70% of total output, and the top speed was also restricted. Regenerative braking was set to level 2 in urban settings and level 1 (the least aggressive) on highways. With the larger battery, the updated Nexon EV now delivers an additional 5hp. It also features a new panoramic sunroof, and the charging time from 10% to 80% has been reduced to 48 minutes, down from 56 minutes for the 40.5kWh variant.
