The Postal Department has swiftly transitioned to a digital platform. They have now introduced an electronic KYC process for opening post office savings bank accounts and enabling transactions using Aadhaar biometrics. This initiative is being rolled out in all post offices nationwide, allowing new customers to open single savings accounts while also updating the eKYC for existing customers. In Alwar district, biometric devices are being provided in post offices, with around 30 locations receiving them in the initial phase.

You can withdraw money from any post office

In old Alwar, this service will soon be available in 60 post offices, and it will also be introduced in 427 sub-divisional post offices in the district shortly. The process began as a pilot project on November 26, involving 12 head post offices and 2 sub post offices, and has since been expanded across the country. Customers will have the convenience of withdrawing money from any post office.

Senior Superintendent of the Postal Department, Jabbar Khan, mentioned that transactions of up to five thousand rupees can be conducted daily using Aadhaar biometrics, without the need for a passbook. For amounts exceeding this limit, vouchers will be required. This entire operation will be managed through the post office’s Finacle software.

Updating Aadhaar is essential

As per the directive issued by the post office on January 1, accounts will only be created in the Finacle software based on Aadhaar authentication. If an individual’s Aadhaar is not updated, they will be unable to open an account using Aadhaar biometrics. Therefore, it is necessary to update Aadhaar before opening an account at the post office.
