Recently, Prime Minister Modi introduced the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana, aimed at empowering women across the nation. Just a month after its launch, the scheme is already gaining popularity among women, with 50,000 registrations recorded. Under this initiative, every woman who has completed the 10th grade can earn a monthly salary and commission of up to Rs 7,000. This program is part of PM Modi’s vision for a developed India through the empowerment of women.
In a statement released on Wednesday, LIC announced that after one month since the scheme’s inception, the total number of registrations for Bima Sakhi has reached 52,511. Out of these, 27,695 Bima Sakhis have received appointment letters to sell policies, and 14,583 have begun their sales activities. LIC’s Managing Director and CEO, Siddharth Mohanty, expressed the goal of appointing at least one Bima Sakhi in every panchayat across the country within the next year.
He emphasized that LIC is enhancing the Bima Sakhi program by equipping women with essential skills and providing them with digital tools. This initiative not only offers a monthly honorarium for three years but also includes commissions from policy sales.
You will receive Rs 7,000 each month
According to the program, every Bima Sakhi will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 7,000 during the first year, followed by Rs 6,000 in the second year, and Rs 5,000 in the third year. This stipend acts as a fundamental support allowance. Furthermore, female agents have the opportunity to earn commissions from their insurance policies. LIC plans to recruit two lakh Bima Sakhis over the next three years. Women between the ages of 18 and 70 who have completed their tenth standard education are eligible to apply.
